Research

The Center conducts and supports theoretical and applied research of local, national, and international importance to nonprofit and philanthropic scholars, policy-makers, and practitioners. Efforts focus primarily on research that examines the changing service and policy roles of nonprofit and philanthropic institutions.

Faculty and Staff Research

Faculty and staff research is disseminated through the Center's education and community engagement activities.

Research Grants

Additionally, as part of our ongoing effort to stimulate university-wide research and teaching on the nonprofit and philanthropic sector, the Nancy Bell Evans Center on Nonprofits & Philanthropy offers grants to University of Washington faculty and graduate students for research in these areas.

Student Research

During their last year of study, MPA students at the Evans School of Public Affairs are required to complete a Degree Project, which demonstrates their mastery of analytic and organizational skills. Students are able to choose from a variety of research topics proposed by local agencies, nonprofits or students themselves. The Degree Project provides a valuable resource for public and nonprofit managers who wish to assess a new program, survey the innovation of counterparts, develop a new system, or explore the feasibility of an untested idea.
